History:
»» The eldest son of GENERAL DRAGOSLAV and his mate JOVANKA, of the most noble HOUSE OF MITROVIĆ, a house dedicated to the arts of war and peace; they are a family as old as their country itself, tracing their roots to VELEMIROV'S beginnings, including the centuries-long war with the neighboring nation of GERVASOV.
»» Born and raised as a soldier, training from a young age to hate and despise the Gervasii; climbing the ranks swiftly, Adrijan attained his position as brigadier by the time he was four and was flagged as the nation's golden child – his younger brother, STEFAN, would live in his shadow for the entirety of his life.
»» On a patrol through the no man's land between Velemirov and Gervasov, Adrijan and Stefan encounter several Gervasii refugees dead in the marshes. They discover that one of them is still alive, a mare – against Adrijan's orders, Stefan brings her back to the capital and takes care of her. Her name was MIRJANA.
»» Adrijan distrusts her immediately, but none will heed his warnings. Stefan falls in love and aims to marry her. Their parents assent and Adrijan has no choice but to comply, eventually coming to terms and expounding some trust. It is then and only then that the girl, a spy as he had feared, makes her fateful move.
»» Mirjana attempts to assassinate Dragoslav in his sleep, but Adrijan, on his way to night duty, intervenes and ultimately kills her. Stefan comes upon them and without waiting for an explanation, launches himself at his older brother – he lands a blow before Adrijan instinctively lashes out. Stefan dies immediately.
»» Banished, Adrijan flees and utilizes all of the skills he has earned throughout the years to fend for himself, all the while trying – and subsequently, repeatedly, failing – to come to terms with Stefan's death. As an outlaw he travels through Gervasov and after some time comes upon the split kingdoms of the OUTSIDE.
