*intolerant, extremely picky with her choice of company.
*charming in her own way, loyal (enough..) and possesses a sense of humor (though not for pranks) among friends.
History: *her mother and uncle both lived in the valley for a time, independently and without knowledge of one another. then, one day, another sibling came to the valley in search of her uncle (for after gaining a ranked position his fame had grown and thus was easy to find) to inform them that their family, many leagues away, was in great peril and required his return. her mother, having also gained knowledge of her brother's presence, arrived just in time for the reunion. although it was difficult, it was decided that her uncle had to return to his homeland, but her mother refused - she had built a life here, and had loved ones that would break her heart to leave. she resolved instead to journey with them just to the edge of the valley to see them off - a lighthearted decision that brought more pain to the world than she could have imagined
*on the outskirts of the valley, scaling a mountain wall, the sibling lost his footing and fell, badly injuring his leg. not having the heart to leave her brothers to struggle over hard ground, she decided to at least help them until they came to easier territory; past the mountain, into gently sloping forest land where he might find it easier to walk
*in the lawless outskirt lands on the other side of the mountain, it so happened that they were attacked by a gang of rogue stallions. the sibling, weak and unable to defend himself was ended quickly. her mother ran, her uncle fought. several hours later, cold and alone and lost and exhausted, her mother was found, and raped - her freedom burgled and forced to travel with brutes, under the threat of the torture and death and the invasion of the land she had just left. not wishing to bring harm on anyone she had loved, she relented: left her heart at the foot of the mountain in pieces, and left.
*there is no record of what befell her uncle, though her mother was told that his skull was smashed, his bones battered into the mud, an open grave. this image was enough to keep her in line
*in a small herd of mares ruled by the cruel stallions, life was unfriendly and lonely. A year passed, she grew thinner, sicker. she gave birth late, her labour only induced in the end by a beating. she survived long enough to name the child before she died of blood-loss; Alioth, 'black', as her life had become - and to explain to her briefly the story of her arrival on the earth. no rites were performed on her body, no pity for her weakness, and her corpse was left for the wolves as the herd moved on.
*Alioth lived among the herd of her birth until she became a year old, when she fled to avoid the same fate of her mother. she lived alone for some time, until she decided she would strike out and discover the place which her mother had spoke of - the valley.
